Timo Saarelma

In street photography I am particularly interested in the play of light and shadows shaping atmosphere for my black and white photographs. When the image is still, having space for only one frame for the narrative, the contextual depth lies in the dynamics of composition, in the subtexts folded in the presentation of the subject, and in the textures of the image. The human subjects in my photographs can be seen as characters of stories that I don't know how they began, or how they will end. Their interactions in urban space, in captured fleeting moments echo our aspirations, dreams, wishes and struggles in our own existence.
